Artificial Reality | What is it?
How is Artificial Reality (XR) Different From VR?
Artificial Reality was coined in 1969 by Myron Kruger. He used the term in reference to his work with interactive, immersive environments which later became VR. He then used Artificial Reality as the name of his book. So, when using the term Artificial Reality, know that you are referencing the book by Myron Kruger

Additionally, Artificial Reality is different from Virtual Reality in that Artificial Reality includes any part of the Virtual Continuum other than reality itself. Everything from Augmented Reality to Virtual Reality is considered Artificial reality.
